Iain is the Lead Analyst for the Global Life Sciences Center at EY. In this role Iain leads the ideation process for EY’s Global Life Sciences Center, working collaboratively with clients, EY practitioners and other industry stakeholders to develop EY’s points of view on the industry. Before joining EY, Iain was Managing Editor, Thought Leadership at the Economist Intelligence Unit, producing thought leadership for a range of multinational clients. Iain is also an accomplished, motivated communicator and strategist, with 15 years’ experience in the life sciences sector and an excellent track record as a journalist, editor and publisher. He regularly participates as a subject matter expert in engagements with life sciences clients at EY and is a regular speaker at conferences and industry meetings.

Who’s afraid of the big bad data?
Two years ago in our annual report on the medtech sector, Pulse of the industry, we warned that the sector was facing a perfect storm, caused by a general shift toward value-based care, growing regulatory pressure in the US and limited resources as a result of a global downturn. Those events came to pass, with the added complication of tougher new regulatory issues in Europe. It was time, we felt, in this year’s report to see how the sector is weathering the storm.
